Australian Department Stores Ban Retail Fur

Australian department stores have come together to enact a nationwide ban on selling animal fur, making the nation the first to undertake such a policy. The Humane Society International received a letter from retailer David Jones’ Chief Executive Officer Paul Zahra, stating, “David Jones takes its responsibility in relation to mitigating the exploitation of animals very seriously and in no way supports animal cruelty.” Concluding the letter, Zahra announced that fur products are no longer sold within the department store. Other retailers in agreement of the ban include Target, Myer, Big W, and Kmart.
