13 Ways Billie Eilish Uses Her Massive Platform to Help People, Animals, and the Planet

Billie Eilish may only be 24 years old, but you won’t believe how much she’s done to promote the vegan lifestyle.

Throughout all of her success, Billie Eilish has stayed true to her values. She has an enormous platform—and she’s used it to champion veganism in ways we could only dream of accomplishing in our lifetimes. We think that deserves some serious celebration. So, without further ado, here’s a list of all the reasons we love her for more than just her soulful music.

1 She went vegan when she was 12 years old

No doubt influenced by her mom, Maggie Baird, an activist and celebrity in her own right and the founder of vegan food security nonprofit Support + Feed, Eilish told Vogue she went vegan at 12.

“I’ve been vegan for, damn, seven years,” Eilish told Orlando Bloom in the publication’s ‘Ask a Legend’ segment in 2021. “I learned about the dairy industry and the meat industry, which I already knew about. Once you know about that kind of thing and you see it, it’s really hard to go back.”

“And, even now, while I have many friends who eat dairy and meat—and I don’t want to tell anybody what to do—I just can’t go on in my life knowing what’s going on in the animal world and not doing anything about it,” she said.

2She has turned multiple arenas vegan

If anyone can transform an entire arena into a vegan food-only haven, it’s Eilish. In honor of Overheated, the singer’s six-day climate-action event in 2022the O2 Arena removed all animal products. Three years later, the arena did it again for Eilish’s “Hit Me Hard and Soft” tour. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, the singer has also convinced arenas in New York, Manchester, and Los Angeles to ditch meat for her shows.

3The ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ shows proved touring can be sustainable

Eilish didn’t just convince arenas to ditch animal products throughout her record-breaking Hit Me Hard and Soft tour in 2024 and 2025. The tour also helped to raise more than $13 million for climate action and community organizations; prevented 135,200 single-use bottles from going to landfill; and funded sustainable travel for fans, among many other sustainability initiatives.

4 She supports her fans to give up meat

Through its Eco Villages, the Hit Me Hard and Soft tour also helped to secure pledges from more than 36,000 people to eat one plant-based meal a day for 30 days. That’s not all: The tour also helped donate 7.7 million plant-based meals to people facing food insecurity through its food drives and partnership with Support + Feed.

5She speaks up on social media

Eilish has said she doesn’t want to tell others what to do, but she’s also not shy about her veganism and will speak out when appropriate. As a response to the horrors leaked from the Fair Oaks Farm undercover investigation in 2019, which revealed extreme incidents of animal abuse, the then-teenager took to social media and didn’t sugarcoat her opinion.

To her then 26 million Instagram followers she captioned, “I keep my mouth shut most of the time about this because I believe everyone should do, eat, and say whatever they want … and I don’t feel the need to shove what I believe in, in anyone’s face, but man … if you can watch the videos that I just posted and not give a f*ck that it’s you contributing by literally eating the creatures that are being fully tortured just for your pleasure, I feel sorry for you.”

Seven years later, in 2026, the singer proved she hadn’t changed at all when, in a video segment for Elle, she said: “Eating meat is inherently wrong.” She added: “You can eat meat, go for it. You can love animals. But you can’t do both.” Her words prompted backlash, but she doubled down by sharing footage from factory farms to her Instagram account.

6 She makes fantastic vegan cookies

We know because we’ve tried ‘em. With just seven pantry ingredients, the star somehow conjured vegan magic and created surprisingly good peanut butter chocolate chunk vegan cookies—that just happen to be gluten-free. Don’t believe us? Try the recipe for yourself. Want even more? Eilish also has her own recipe for vegan Dubai chocolate

7 She once took to Capitol Hill to support a federal vegan school lunch program

The Grammy winner is no stranger to using her platform for good, so it was no surprise when she took a detour from her world tour in support of the Healthy Future Students and Earth Act—proposed legislation that would make plant-based school meals more accessible to students nationwide.

“I’m proud to advocate for this legislation that will help to fight climate change, combat food insecurity, and promote health equity,” Eilish said.

She convinced Oscar de la Renta to ditch fur

This feat alone could amount to any vegan nonprofit’s lifetime of work. How’d the young influencer pull it off? She gave Alex Bolden—Oscar de la Renta’s chief executive—an ultimatum. She would wear their designer gown to the 2021 star-studded Met Gala on the condition that the brand completely ditch fur. Bolden obliged, and Eilish stunned the gala wearing a completely vegan nude tulle gown with a 15-foot train.

9She speaks up for all animals

The pop star speaks up for all animals—from those used in fashion to the four-legged friends we share our homes with to the victims of the meat industry.

At the start of December 2023, Eilish called for an immediate end to Indonesia’s dog and cat meat trades in a powerful joint letter addressed to President Joko Widodo. But Eilish wasn’t the only celebrity making this urgent call to action. Jeff Bridges, Charlize Theron, Clint Eastwood, Kim Basinger, Courteney Cox, Ricky Gervais, Andie McDowell, and Zooey Deschanel also called for the end of the cruel trade.

10She partnered with Nike to create vegan kicks

A fan of Nike’s Air Jordans since she was a young kid, Eilish worked with the brand to create a vegan offshoot of this classic style. Made with 20-percent recycled materials, Eilish’s branded Jordans came in two colors—which perhaps not so coincidentally match her hair colors. The Ghost Green kicks represent Eilish’s past neon-green shade while the nude taupe shoe matches her more recent platinum look. In 2022 and 2023, she released eco-friendly Air Force Ones with the brand, and then in 2024, the Billie Eilish x Air Jordan 4 hit shelves.

Her vegan perfumes smell amazing

Looking for a gift? Eilish’s vegan perfumes might just be it. Launched in 2021, Eilish Eau de Parfum was created with the celeb’s input, from the fragrance notes to the bottle design. We’ve had a whiff and think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by its complexity. If you prefer something a little more sultry, the singer released a second vegan perfume in 2022 called Eilish 2.0. It features notes of palo santo, ebony, Italian bergamot, apple blossom, papyrus, black pepper, and wild wet poppy flowers. And then in 2025, she released two more scents: the light, musky Your Turn, and the spicy, earthy sequel, Your Turn II.

She has her own vegan chocolate

If given the opportunity, who wouldn’t want their own line of vegan chocolate? As a limited-time promotion for Happier Than Ever, Eilish lent the album’s name to a vegan and organic, 35-percent cacao milk chocolate bar. The sweet confection promptly sold out, likely prompting Eilish and her team to release the bar again, this time to celebrate her movie, Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour Live in 3D

13She’s generous

We have to assume that Eilish inherited her giving spirit from her mother. From supporting the now-national vegan hunger relief initiative, Support+Feed, to dropping off flowers and plant-based doughnuts to essential workers on Mother’s Day, Eilish seems to take every opportunity she can to give back and spread a little vegan and environmental joy.

And we’re not the only ones to notice. Alongside Baird, she was honored with the Environmental Media Association Missions in Music Award in 2022. Before she received the award, her mother said: “I’m so proud that Billie uses her voice to inspire a younger audience and advocate for change.”

Her fame continues to grow, but it’s nice to know that Eilish keeps herself grounded not only by giving money but also by giving precious time to those in need, from people to animals to the planet.
